Local SEO Specialist

Blue Crocus Solutions

About the role
We’re Blue Crocus Solutions, a Canadian SEO and web development agency. We work only with local home service businesses in the United States and Canada. Most of our clients run junk removal and dumpster rental companies. The rest are plumbers, painters, pest control companies and similar trades.

We’re hiring a Local SEO Specialist to own how our clients show up on Google Maps, Bing and Apple Maps. The role covers more than 100 Google Business Profiles across about 35 clients, plus each client’s Bing Places and Apple Maps listings.

This is hands-on work. You’ll audit listings, fix what’s broken, chase verifications to the finish and keep every profile accurate month after month. When something goes wrong, you tell your team lead the same day. Then you write down how you fixed it so that the next person can do it too.

What you’ll do
– Google Business Profile. Audit and optimize every listing: primary and secondary categories, services with real descriptions, accurate hours, attributes, photos and weekly posts. Check that the page each profile links to matches what the profile says.
– Fixes and recoveries. Handle suspensions and reinstatement requests, video verifications, wrong map pins, duplicate listings, and ownership and access transfers. You see each one through until the listing is live and correct.
– Bing Places and Apple Maps. Claim, verify and manage every client’s listing on Bing Places for Business and Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Connect). Keep each one matching the Google profile.
Reviews. Respond to every review within 48 hours in the client’s voice. Help clients keep a steady flow of new written reviews within Google’s rules. Flag missing or fake reviews early.
– Spam and competitors. Watch the local map results for fake listings and keyword-stuffed business names, and report them to Google through the proper channels.
– Consistency across the web. Work with our citation specialist so that the business name, address and phone number match on every platform, from Yelp and Facebook to the home service directories.
– Tracking and reporting. Run local rank grids and read each profile’s calls, website clicks and direction requests every month. Explain what moved and why in plain language.
– Documentation. Keep our local SEO SOPs current in Waybook, our company playbook, as you learn and improve the process.

How we measure this role
Calls, website clicks and direction requests across our clients’ Business Profiles, read every month. The goal is steady growth month over month.

Your first 90 days
Month 1. Learn our 2026 Business Profile checklist and audit every listing against it.
Month 2. Every client claimed, verified and matching on Bing Places and Apple Maps.
Month 3. Monthly reporting running for every client, with the next fixes listed per account.

This role is a great fit if you
– Have managed Google Business Profiles for local service businesses, for clients and at volume
– Have gotten a suspended profile reinstated and can explain what caused the suspension
– Know when a service area business should hide its address and when it should show it
– Follow a checklist as carefully on the 80th listing as on the first
– Tell your lead about a problem the day you find it, without being asked
– Write clear, friendly English that a busy business owner understands at a glance
– Write down how you did something so that someone else can repeat it

This role is not a fit if you
– Think local SEO means buying hundreds of directory listings
– Would stuff keywords into a business name or show fake 24/7 hours to rank higher
– Need reminders to follow up
– Count a task as done when it’s submitted, before it’s live and verified
– Go quiet when something breaks

Requirements
– At least 2 years of hands-on Google Business Profile work for multiple businesses, ideally at an agency
– Working knowledge of Bing Places for Business and Apple Maps listings
– A solid grasp of Google’s Business Profile guidelines and what gets a listing suspended
– Fluent written and spoken English
– Comfortable on a call with a US or Canadian business owner when a verification needs them
– Available to overlap with US Eastern business hours (we’ll discuss the schedule)
– Reliable internet and a quiet place to work

Bonus points
– BrightLocal, or a rank grid tool such as Local Falcon
– Yelp for Business, Facebook business pages and home service directories
– Experience with junk removal, dumpster rental or other trades clients
– Google Search Console and Google Analytics basics
– Using AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT to work faster, and checking what they produce

What we offer
– A long-term, full-time role with a growing agency
– Clear SOPs and an up-to-date 2026 Business Profile checklist, so that you know what good looks like
– Regular check-ins with a team lead who knows local SEO
– Room to grow as our local program grows

How to apply
– Follow these steps exactly. We won’t review applications that skip any answer.
– Start your application with this sentence: “Every pin in the right place.”
– Record a 3 to 5 minute video on Loom or similar. Pick any junk removal company in a US city of your choice and open its Google Business Profile. Walk us through the first fixes you would make and why.
– A client’s Business Profile was suspended yesterday. What do you do in the first 48 hours? Be specific about the steps, what you check and what you tell the client.
– A new client has no Bing Places or Apple Maps listing. How do you get each one live and verified, and what do you need from the client?
– A junk removal owner runs the business from home and serves a 30 mile area. Should the Business Profile show the address? Explain your reasoning.
– Tell us about a time a listing or project went wrong on your watch. What happened, who did you tell and when?
– If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?
– What does this quote mean to you personally? “Work is love made visible.” (Khalil Gibran)
– Find a random fact about our founder, Lewis Vandervalk, and cite your source.
– Attach your resume to the email.

Blue Crocus Solutions is a remote-first agency. We value reliable, self-directed people who own their work and see it through. If that’s you, we’d love to hear from you.
