We’re looking for someone who is:

Major Responsibilities

  • SEO Strategy Creation, Scope, Proposal, Planning, and Implementation

Scope out content strategy projects, assist in proposal creation, and meticulously plan SEO project details.
This includes direct involvement in content strategy projects along with other SEOs so they can follow your approach when executing the project.
Content strategy projects vary. The most common are keyword list and topic ideation, SEO audits, and custom SEO research requested by clients and The Blogsmith’s content managers.

  • SOP Development — develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for SEO processes, ensuring consistency and efficiency in execution.
  • SEO Consulting
Provide expert recommendations on high-level SEO queries from potential and existing clients.
Serve as the go-to person for content managers and other team members regarding SEO-related questions and concerns.
  • SEO Leadership & Training
Lead and supervise SEO specialists on various projects, providing guidance and support.
Evaluate and monitor the performance of SEO specialists, providing feedback and implementing rubrics of improvement.
  • Conduct internal SEO training sessions when needed.
Assist in SEO Reporting — we have SEO personnel in charge of setting up and tracking the SEO performance of our clients and The Blogsmith. Content managers will occasionally ask you to analyze our/a client’s SEO performance and document all the wins we have achieved for certain clients.
  • SEO Investigations
Work with the team to share SEO knowledge and strategies. That includes sharing key takeaways from helpful resources to improve The Blogsmith’s processes and investigating other SEO tools we may add to our stack.
Investigate the impact of algorithm updates.
Understand and fix any technical SEO errors being flagged by Google Search Console.
  • SEO Content Review — review The Blogsmith’s blog outlines and drafts as needed to ensure alignment with SEO best practices.
  • Off-page SEO/Backlink building tasks

The Blogsmith has a beta offer for link building for our existing clients. You will help review our clients’ link profiles to see which page needs the most backlinks, vet link prospects, help build reports, and track performance from backlink campaigns.
Investigate link builders to determine which link-building agencies we can partner with.
Analyze backlink pitches for The Blogsmith’s website to determine if collaboration is worthwhile.

Other Responsibilities When Needed

  • Keyword Research — This is the typical task of SEOs every week. When additional support is required, you will work through a list of keyword research steps and analyze data to find the best-fit keyword for proposed topics and justify them.
  • In-house Technical SEO/Website Management:
  • In-house: Work with The Blogsmith’s website to make on-page and technical SEO updates when needed.
Investigate and fix technical issues concerning The Blogsmith’s website (errors in Google Search Console or errors flagged by our SEO tool’s site audit reports).
  • Assist in contacting support personnel if there are issues concerning The Blogsmith’s website (sending a ticket, getting in touch with support through email, chatting with the hosting provider or web developers, etc.).
  • SEO Sales Tasks — preliminary content ideation and website audit for potential clients or answering SEO-related queries to win new prospects.
